Description
The neighborhood is a bingo game where each season, we play two bingo boards with prompts to help us strengthen community with friends, neighbors, family, classmates, and coworkers. At the end of the season, the winner gets to choose where we donate the mutual aid funds we’ve raised by people joining.
it includes biweekly virtual drop in sessions where we support each other through our bingo boards. Join at any time, as we go section through section motivating each other to build stronger communities and sharing our experiences, nervousness, barriers, and more!
A lot of us don’t know our neighbors, are scared to ask friends for favors, and rely on pay-to-play services to get our needs met, but we’re not meant to do it all alone.
We can learn to be better neighbors, friends and community members by taking small steps like bringing a neighbor a meal, asking to borrow a tool, waving to someone you recognize on the street, stopping to chat with elders, or offering to watch someone’s kid for them.
Though this effort can seem mundane it can bring us a greater sense of belonging, an understanding of what we have to offer, connections to our local resources, support systems for emergencies, and a stronger practice of care: both giving and receiving.
